The challenge is to define clearly the USP in a way that will attract new customers. For those who wonder how you actually go through the process, here are my 5 tips to help you in the right direction:
Add as many words for each concept chosen as possible
Time for reflection. Book a little 'time to think through the USP. Lack of time to think is a crucial factor for companies fail to reach their potential. Then program the schedule, remove all distractions (phone, etc.) and also get rid of a normal office environment, if necessary. This is the time to work effectively invested in the "industry - until now.
Involve others. Business is strong enough alone and not try to solve this on their own. Its management team, or better yet your entire team can provide valuable - but only if you choose to ask them. I found a series of workshops that have created and accepted the USP as a team. The energy and the debate created in the room were a great advantage for homeowners. This shows your team that you value their opinion which is very motivating, you'd be surprised at how members of his own team can have very different opinions about what should be its USP!
Brainstorming 3-5 areas or features that differentiate your company or product from the rest - These could include:
Quality
The level of service
Selection and availability
Convenience
Personalization
Speed
Reliability
Powerful Warranty
Add as many words for each concept chosen as possible.
Be specific! A customer leaves no doubt as to how it will benefit if they buy from you.
Put yourself in their shoes to customers. Think about all the things their customers do not like your industry, so be sure to provide otherwise. For example, many people hate the fact that the plumbers and builders are often late, they do a bad job and leave without cleaning up the mess. So now I have trained plumbing contractor, sold on the fact that you get plumbers to turn into a slot for an hour for pre-agreement, which disappear after themselves and there was no guarantee of 1 year that covers all necessary repairs.
Investing time and effort to follow these tips and you'll end up with the USP to significantly improve your conversion rate. In my next article I will talk more about the USP: "What a powerful USP can do for your business."
